Both schools were delighted to welcome Kimba — a talented author, poet, and musician — who brought energy, creativity, and inspiration to our classrooms.
Kimba shared his Shampoo poems with all children in assemblies across both schools.
Kimba then spent time working with Year 2 and Year 5 pupils, sharing his books and guiding the children through exciting poetry workshops.
The sessions focused on the theme of autumn, encouraging children to explore rhyme, alliteration, and synonyms in their writing. With Kimba’s warm and engaging style, pupils were captivated by the power of words and the joy of creative expression.
Headteacher Mrs. Lee shared her thoughts on the visit:
“The children valued the opportunity to work with someone outside our community. Kimba’s workshops helped them develop their poetic skills in a fun and meaningful way. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they experimented with language and rhythm.”
The children’s poems reflected the vibrant colours and feelings of the season, and many proudly shared their work with classmates and staff.
Kimba’s visit not only enriched our curriculum but also highlighted the importance of diverse voices in literature and the arts. We are incredibly grateful to Kimba for his time, talent, and the inspiration he brought to our schools.
